Pay attention to every detail in your home!
15 days ago, my family and I started feeling shocks whenever we touched the taps at home. The occurrence was intermittent and, at times, even when wearing rubberized shoes, this also happened.
We hired an electrician, who came to do an initial check. Already at that moment, he realized that there was no grounding* in the house (in fact, we discovered that all the houses in the condominium are not grounded).
He tried to correct the problem, grounding and checking all sockets, switches, lighting and ventilation points. During the work, he noticed that the ceiling fan wire, which was connected with insulating tape, had come loose and was touching the metal hydraulic pipe, causing the shocks.
Anyway, everything was checked and adapted to make us safer. This whole situation drew my attention to the fact that it is very important to carry out periodic inspections of domestic installations, with a good professional.
Naturally, the biggest concern is always the safety of residents, but simpler situations can also compromise electrical equipment and cause major damage.
Especially in showers, grounding is essential to avoid shocks, as, when the body is wet, the passage of electric current is facilitated and the risks increase, and can even lead to death. Furthermore, always using good quality materials certified by competent bodies helps to minimize risks.
* Grounding is the intentional connection with the earth, to direct to it any electrical charge that appears on metal parts that can be touched or on electrical equipment. This prevents people from being shocked, providing greater safety.
