In this book, Carolina tells us about the learning experiences she gained from life, the people she interacted with, and the evolving needs throughout her career. She began working at a time when the profession of Interior Design did not exist; there were only "decorators," and the focus was on a higher-class clientele.

It was in the 1990s that this name of the profession emerged, along with higher education courses for training professionals. Carolina shows us that Interior Design involves planning and projects for various interior spaces (be they residential, commercial, or institutional), with a focus on aesthetics, comfort, functionality, and user safety. It is a comprehensive role that considers personal preferences, harmony, space optimization, and the need to understand people. It emphasizes the importance of empathetic listening from the very first contact and having a sensitive eye to grasp the client's true demands.

Carolina shares her initial experience working as an assistant to carioca -based decorator Roberto de Carvalho, assisting him in São Paulo, and how much she learned from him about decoration and art. She also provides a glimpse into the history of Brazilian Design, which began with the arrival of the royal family in Brazil in the 19th century and experienced significant development in the mid-20th century through the 1990s.

The designer takes us on a journey through the world of interior decoration magazines, which played a pivotal role in the profession's growth, as well as the Casa Cor exhibition, which paved the way for enduring prosperity in the field. She emphasizes the need to stay updated with market changes and modern technologies, maintaining a continuous learning process, and being environmentally conscious. Carolina underscores the importance of valuing Brazilian culture and craftsmanship.

Carolina believes that establishing positive relationships with work partners and all contributors to the final success of a project, always with mutual respect and professionalism, is essential.

Understanding the history of design in our country and knowing the pioneers of this wonderful profession helps us better comprehend the responsibilities we have as designers.

Throughout her 60-year career, Carolina continues to show clients that good taste and space utilization don't necessarily require excessive spending, even if the client has no budget constraints. She emphasizes that wastefulness is a lack of education, class, and respect, and highlights the importance of preserving what can be conserved, not discarding classic pieces or those with history, and taking care of what previous generations have left behind.

Having met her at the Conad (Interior Design Congress in São Paulo, 2023) and conversing with her during the launch of her book, I realized that even after many years in the profession, she still has a twinkle in her eye when it comes to her work as a designer.

I am extremely grateful for her showing me that I am on the path I want to be on, doing what I love with the purpose of making people feel happier and healthier in the environments I design, paying attention to all the details that can impact the health, quality of life, and well-being of users with the utmost professionalism.
